Call for Papers

Paper Submissions

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the world’s first Peace Park (Waterton Glacier International Peace Park) the Peace, Parks and Partnerships Conference (9-12 September 2007) promises to be an exciting gathering of international experts on peace parks and transboundary natural resource management. We have accepted over 100 presenters from around the world to participate in more than 20 sessions. Please monitor the Web-site for program updates and announcements.

All participants are strongly encouraged to prepare a paper along with the oral presentation. Oral presentations are expected to be 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions (unless part of a special session with designated longer times). In order to ensure wide dissemination of the valuable materials being presented at the conference, the organizers are committed to publish the papers in two ways:

  1. All papers received by 31 August 2007 will be circulated in digital form (CD) to all conference registrants. These papers will not be edited by the organizers, but will be included on the CD in their submitted form. If a paper is not received, the accepted abstract will be included on the CD.
  2. A selection of the best papers received by 31 August 2007 will be subject to a peer review process and subsequently published in a book to be edited by the program committee and published by the University of Calgary Press.

Papers should strive to highlight key lessons learned, best practices and recommendations for future improvement of Peace Parks and related transboundary natural resource management initiatives. Case studies are acceptable, but must go beyond merely descriptive and provide a critical analysis. The maximum length for manuscripts is 7500 words.

Papers should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word to info@peaceparks2007.org.

Papers must be prepared using the Chicago Manual of Style. A sample paper format has been included in the PPP Author Guidelines attachment below as appendix 1. The University of Calgary Press has prepared a brief style guide included as appendix 2. The Chicago Manual of Style (15th Edition) can be access on-line at:
